The MCU Portland Phoenix U14 girls won their third straight Maine State Cup championship with a 2-1 victory Sunday over Seacoast United Black Bear. The Phoenix, with players from Cape Elizabeth, Windham, Hollis, Gray New Gloucester, Scarborough, Portland, Cumberland, Falmouth, Kennebunk, Wells and Yarmouth, will represent Maine in US Youth Soccer’s Region 1 tournament, June 26-July 1, at Kingston, Rhode Island.

Robert Warden used a 7-iron to make a hole-in-one on the eighth hole at Riverside Municipal’s South Course on May 14. Brian Johnson and Matt Hall witnessed the 150-yard shot.

Sam Green aced the fifth hole on Riverside Municipal’s North Course on May 19. He used a driver for the 275-yard shot, witnessed by Dan Myhaver and Kyle Donovan.

Oakley Jones scored a hole-in-one on the 147-yard fourth hole at Portland Country Club on May 28. Jones used a 7-iron for the shot, which was witnessed by Arthur Batson Jr., Lowell Watson and J.D. Walker.
