With all of the negative coverage of the national Veterans Affairs health care system, I feel compelled to share my personal experience.

As a veteran, I have received treatment at both Togus and the VA’s outpatient clinic in Portland.

I have never received more welcome, professional and, yes, timely attention. My calls have been answered promptly and appointments scheduled within a reasonable time frame.

It is obvious that there are massive and inexcusable problems in facilities in many of the other states. Not so, Maine. Perhaps this is a state problem more than a national one.
