A fire in a Lower Village residential building in Kennebunk was under control by late Friday night, a fire official said.

The fire at 170 Port Road was reported shortly after 9 p.m., a dispatcher said. She said the building was residential, but she didn’t know if it was a single-family home or an apartment building.

There were no immediate reports of injuries, and the extent of the damage to the home was still being determined, she said. Fire crews from neighboring towns had been called in to cover Kennebunk fire stations while crews responded to the fire, she said.

Lower Village is a section of Kennebunk just across the river from Dock Square in Kennebunkport.
