The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is gearing up its spin machine for the upcoming bear referendum.

They are again attempting to brainwash the public into believing that if Maine’s bear feeding program (aka bear baiting) stops, Maine’s bear population will spiral out of control.

This is the same baloney they spouted in 2004.

Prior to that referendum, MDIFW claimed that if bear baiting were stopped, Maine’s bear population would drastically increase.

Well, they got their way, and guess what happened? Maine’s bear population jumped 30 percent in less than 10 years. This is wildlife management?

MDIFW again says that Mainers should continue feeding thousands of bears millions of pounds of food, otherwise the population will continue to grow.

This does not begin to pass the straight-face test.
