Thunder, lightning and heavy rain forced postponement of the Eastern League baseball game scheduled for Hadlock Field Wednesday night between the Sea Dogs and visiting New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

The game has been rescheduled as part of a seven-inning doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. July 12.

The first-place Sea Dogs (50-27) begin a stretch of 15 games with only three at Hadlock Field, on July 4, 5 and 6. Lefthander Henry Owens (9-3, 1.99 ERA) is scheduled to pitch Thursday night in Reading, Pennsylvania, against Perci Garner (4-4, 4.14).

Owens has won five straight starts, allowing only one run in those 35.2 innings, while striking out 32, walking seven and yielding only 20 hits. For the season, opponents are batting a league-low .178 average.

He also leads the league in wins, ERA, strikeouts (89), complete games (3), shutouts (2) and WHIP (1.03).

A fireworks show that had been scheduled for Wednesday night was moved to Aug. 16.
