Maine’s largest law firm has added two new hires to its executive team.

Pierce Atwood has hired James Gorman, former vice president of finance for Portland consulting firm Woodard & Curran, as chief operating officer, while Leisa DuPuy, former finance manager at Stantec Consulting in Scarborough, becomes the director of finance. Both appointments became effective July 1.

According to a release from Pierce Atwood, Gorman has extensive experience in managing operations and finance. At Woodard & Curran he was a member of the firm’s risk review board, chair of its 401(k) committee and past chair of the firm’s project management training and development initiative. He received his MBA from the University of New Hampshire and a bachelor’s from the University of Vermont.

DuPuy managed the financials for nine New England Stantec locations comprising 425 people and eight operational business centers. She has an MBA from Boston University and a bachelor’s from Bentley University.

“Leisa brings a wealth of practical business experience to our financial function and Jim brings IT, management and organizational development experience to the COO position, as well as financial acumen,” said Managing Partner Gloria Pinza in the release. “Working closely with Jim and Leisa will be Jim Matsoukas, our CMO and director of business development. Together, they give us many years of leadership experience and success in professional services.”
