Lake Monitoring Conference, 8 a.m., Maine’s Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program’s annual conference, with several presenters, displays and demonstrations. Guests include Maine DEP Commissioner Patricia Aho and University of Maine School of Marine Sciences professor Emmanuel Bass. Held at Great Outdoors lake lodge on Pleasant Pond, Turner. Certified lake monitors attend free and the cost for others is $35. Morning refreshments and lunch are included. Preregistration is required by Monday. A Lunch and Learn series is beginning later this month at York County Community College in Wells. The programs will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, July 23 through Oct. 15. The free series will offer presentations to the business community about the college’s training opportunities, programs and courses.
