CORINNA — Police say a 79-year-old Corinna man was killed when the riding lawn mower he was operating was struck from behind by a car.

Deputies say Dana Doherty died when he was struck at about 5 p.m. Wednesday by a car driven by a Garland man.

The cause remains under investigation and there was no word on whether any charges will be filed.

Sgt. William Sheehan of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office tells WABI-TV an accident reconstruction team is piecing together what happened.
