A Strong teenager was arrested on a warrant after police say he helped restrain a victim of a reported Farmington sexual assault.

Gavin Flagg, 18, was arrested on the misdemeanor charge of assault for allegedly restraining one of two teenage girls in an incident where police say another man, Shawn Burnell, 21, attempted to rape one of the victims.

Farmington Police secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said the charge is a class D misdemeanor.

“His part in it was actually restraining one of the victims,” she said.

Police said the two reported victims, 14 and 16-years-old, were assaulted behind Front Street on July 20. Police said in court documents that Burnell tried to force one of the girls to drink alcohol, waved a knife in her face, held her down and attempted to rape her.

After multiple escape attempts, court documents state they were able to get to McDonald’s and call for help.
