NEW ORLEANS — A 14-year-old whose trombone was stolen at gunpoint has a new one thanks to musician Troy Andrews, much better known as Trombone Shorty.

Andrews is on the road. The head of the Trombone Shorty Foundation, Bill Taylor, told The Associated Press that he delivered the custom-engraved instrument Saturday.

New Orleans police say the teen was walking home after band practice Thursday evening when a gunman jumped out of a van and demanded his trombone.

Andrews said he had to do something when he heard that a boy who loves and practices music had lost his instrument that way.
