FARMINGTON — First responders are conducting what’s being described as Maine’s first-of-its-kind, full-scale homeland security training exercise, which is being held at the University of Maine at Farmington.
Officials say the exercise on Friday could involve an active shooter or hostage scenario featuring injured individuals.
Emergency vehicles will respond as if it were an actual emergency and will close some roads.
Lynette Miller from the Maine Emergency Management Agency said the goal is to test local response to an emergency on a campus that’s surrounded by residential neighborhoods. Participants include local, campus and county police, along with fire departments, emergency medical services and Franklin Memorial Hospital.
