South Portland’s rally fell short in a 4-3 loss to Riverside, Rhode Island, in a Northeast Regional Junior Legion quarterfinal at Manchester, New Hampshire.
After falling behind 4-0, South Portland scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Ben Conti hit an RBI triple, Bayley Welch followed with an RBI single, and Lou Abramson brought Welch home with a double to right.
