WATERVILLE — A New York Times reporter who could go to jail for not revealing the source of classified information is being honored by Colby College for courageous journalism.

James Risen, who has refused to identify his source of classified information for a book that detailed the CIA’s efforts against Iran’s nuclear program, will receive the college’s Lovejoy Award at an Oct. 5 ceremony.

Risen and his colleague, Eric Lichtblau, won a Pulitzer Prize in 2006 for a series of stories on the National Security Agency. He was also part of the group of journalists who won a Pulitzer Prize for their reporting on the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Past recipients of the Lovejoy award include author David Halberstam and Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward.
