A Buxton man is scheduled to appear in Springvale District Court Monday on charges of criminal threatening and criminal mischief following an incident early Friday morning in Saco.

A man who lives at 6 Clayton Lane reported that two men damaged a window frame on his house and used a baseball bat to smash two windows of his white 1998 Lincoln Town Car.

The resident recognized one of the suspects and other witnesses gave police a description of the car. Police asked area departments to be on the lookout for the car and Scarborough police spotted it crashed off Broadturn Road near the Buxton town line but it was empty, police said.

Police at 9 a.m. Friday arrested Derek Smith, 23, of 203 Rankin Road, Buxton. He is charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, a felony, criminal mischief and violating conditions of release. Police continue to look for a second suspect.

Nobody was injured.
