A Warren woman who was pinned by her boyfriend’s race car Saturday in the pit area of the Winterport Dragway is expected to recover from her injuries.
Jim Watson, president and owner of the racetrack, said Dale Harvey, 50, sustained a broken wrist, broken ribs, a leg puncture wound and burns from the race car’s radiator after her boyfriend, Jay Lundevall, 53, also of Warren, drove his race car onto a trailer and accidentally pinned her between the car and the truck attached to the trailer.
She was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where she was listed in stable condition Sunday.
“She is doing well. She is going to survive,” Watson said.
The incident, which Watson described as “freak accident,” took place when Lundevall’s foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator.
“We passed the hat today (Sunday) and raised $2,000 for Dale’s medical expenses. We take care of each other around here,” Watson said.
Lundevall will not be charged, according to Maine State Police.
