A South Berwick man was charged with burglary following an investigation into six burglary and theft complaints in town.

Trevor W.L. Perry, 23, of Dogwood Drive, was charged with one count of burglary/theft, but more charges will likely be filed against him, South Berwick police announced Thursday.

During the last month, police investigated three burglary complaints and three theft complaints in the Agamenticus Estates area. Residents reported power tools, lawn equipment, copper wiring and scrap metal were taken, Lt. Christopher Burbank said in a news release. Wiring that was removed from one house caused more than $1,000 in damage.

Burbank said some items were recovered, but much of the stolen property was sold as scrap metal. Police were led to Perry by witnesses, he said.

Perry is originally from North Berwick, but had recently moved to South Berwick to stay with a friend.

He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in York County Superior Court in Alfred.
