Four active-duty Navy SEALs swam the 13.5-mile length of Sebago Lake on Thursday for a Camp Sunshine fundraiser organized to send dozens of military families to the Maine retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses.

The swim was part of the “Go the Distance” campaign, involving Camp Sunshine and the New Balance Foundation, with donations from Shaw Brothers Construction of Gorham.

Organizers hoped to raise $100,000 and send 40 military families to Camp Sunshine in 2015.

The four SEALs were identified as Cmdr. Mike W. from Windham, Lt. Lew E. from Westbrook, Lt. Cmdr. Chad K. from Chicago, and Lt. Matt S. from Lancaster, Pa. The SEALs requested that their last names be withheld for security reasons.
