The recent barbaric act committed by the evil called the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in the execution of journalist Jim Foley must galvanize all freedom-loving people in the world to take political and military action to pursue this evilness to its final extinction.

That cancer called ISIL has no place on this planet. The time to watch and follow this story with complacency is long past.

There is an urgent need for every country to know that to allow this crazed, ungodly cult to kill and plunder its way through Iraq, Syria and beyond is to allow it the space and time to become an established source of terror that would threaten the entire world in time.

Their recent history of barbaric acts will forever put them outside the society of civilized nations that build their future on peaceful coexistence – not death and destruction.

Like the recent outbreak of the Ebola virus that has brought nations together to combat and eradicate that vile disease, we need to do the same with ISIL.

All nations need to see this as a clear and defined threat against their national and civic interest.

Every political, economic and military option must be considered.

Our government’s declaration of “no boots on the ground” should be modified given these terrible circumstances in Iraq and Syria. We should allow for special and limited strikes by our special forces on strategic targets that would set the stage for the final roll back of the Islamic State forces in that region.

The defeat and annihilation of this cancer is everyone’s fight. To do less is to embolden and empower them with our inability to face up to the evilness that they represent.
