BRUNSWICK — The town is inviting the public to meet its finalists for the position of town manager.

Benet Pols, chairman of the Brunswick Town Council, said the town’s employment consultant, David Barrett of the Maine Municipal Association, will moderate the question-and-answer sessions.

The first session will be held Sept. 4 with Presque Isle Town Manager James Bennett.

On Sept. 8, the public will be introduced to the interim town manager, John Eldridge, who has been Brunswick’s finance director for the past 26 years. He was named the town’s temporary manager earlier this year after Town Manager Gary Brown left Brunswick.

Each session will begin at 6 p.m. in the Town Council chambers at 85 Union St., with an open house followed by an hour-long question-and-answer session at 7:15 p.m. Those sessions will be broadcast on TV-3, the local cable television channel. Questions from residents who cannot attend can be emailed to jfactor@brunswickme.org.

Pols said the town wants public feedback before it decides on a new town manager.

“In the end, the town manager must have the confidence of the townspeople and not just its elected officials,” Pols said in a statement issued Thursday.
