Army Spc. Nicole Meunier has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Meunier is the daughter of Christopher Knight of York and is a 2001 graduate of York High School. She graduated from University Of Southern Maine, Portland, in 2012.

Orin Myth has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Leader Development and Assessment course, also known as “Operation Warrior Forge,” at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He graduated from Winthrop High School in 2005 and from the University of Southern Maine, Portland, in 2014. Cadets in their junior and senior year of college must complete the leadership development course and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the Army, National Guard or Reserve following graduation.

Dalton M. Eldridge, an Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadet at St. Joseph’s College in Standish, has completed the nurse summer training program. He is a 2011 graduate of Gardiner Area High School.

An informal get-together for Sampson Air Force Base veterans, Southern Maine Squadron, and their guests, is scheduled for noon Sept. 11, at Gippers, 120 Center St., Auburn. All veterans are welcome. Bringing Worlds Together, the third annual conference for veterans, their families and community members, will be held at the University of Maine Farmington campus 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 20. There will be nine workshops on topics ranging from legal issues and re-integrating into family and community life to traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress. Keynote speakers are Kayla Williams, a former sergeant and Arabic linguist in the 101st Airborne Division and Robert H. Moore Ph.D, a board certified traumatologist and crisis consultant. The free conference is hosted by Tri-County Mental Health Services with support from United Way of the Tri-Valley Area, Americorps Vista and community volunteers.
