Portland International Jetport officials announced Tuesday that Southwest Airlines will add international service and nonstop flights to Orlando.

During the next two months, Southwest will begin offering flights from Portland to Baltimore timed to connect with international flights to Cancun, Mexico; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Oranjestad, Aruba; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

The airline also will resume nonstop service to Orlando, Florida, next March. Last year, Orlando was the fourth-most-popular destination for travelers leaving Portland, with 79,550 passengers.

“These new options from Southwest give PWM travelers a tremendous amount of flexibility when it comes to price and schedule,” airport Director Paul Bradbury said in a statement.

Southwest will begin service from Baltimore to Mexico, Jamaica and Aruba on Sept. 16. It will begin flying to the Dominican Republic on Nov. 2 and Nassau, Bahamas, at a future date yet to be announced.
