The rollover of a 2000 Chevrolet Camaro convertible sent three teenagers to the hospital early Tuesday.

Deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 1:42 a.m. on Beath Road. Benjamin Hutchings, 19, of Boothbay Harbor, was driving south and as he entered a sharp left turn, lost control of the car, the sheriff’s office said in a release. The car hit an embankment and rolled, coming to rest on its roof.

The front seat passenger, Daniel Dugay, 18, of Boothbay, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, the release said. Of the three teenage girls in the back seat, a 15-year-old from Boothbay and a 17-year-old from Boothbay Harbor were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Some of their injuries are considered serious.

A 17-year-old from Boothbay and Hutchings refused treatment at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

Both Hutchings and Dugay were wearing seatbelts, though it’s unclear who among the back seat passengers were belted in, the sheriff’s office said.

A blood sample was taken from Hutchings as is required in all crashes with serious injuries or death, and investigators are working to determine whether speed, alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
