WESTBROOK — Emily Michaud scored with 11:33 remaining Thursday to lift Cheverus to a 3-2 victory against Westbrook in an SMAA field hockey opener.

Delaney Derrig and Danielle Breunig scored for Westbrook. Abby Ford and Hannah Abbott answered for Cheverus.

Casey Simpson had four saves for the Stags.

GORHAM 4, SOUTH PORTLAND 1: Reagan Emerson had a goal and an assist as the Rams won an opener at South Portland.

Charlotte Smith, Kayli Leavitt and Andrea Stemm also scored, and Megan Baker had five saves for Gorham.

Sophia Cummings scored and Grace Chitham made 15 saves for South Portland.

BIDDEFORD 14, MCAULEY 0: Charlotte White scored five goals as the Tigers won an opener at Biddeford.

Mallory Mourmouras added four goals and a pair of assists, and Taylor Turgeon had a goal and four assists.

PORTLAND 3, NOBLE 0: Renata Serio scored in the first half, and Gabby Wagabaza and Taylor Sargent added second-half goals as Portland won an opener at home.

Marcy LaRiccia had 19 saves for Noble.

SANFORD 3, MASSABESIC 2: Liz Helmreich scored with 39 seconds remaining in the second overtime as the Spartans won an opener at Sanford.

After Massabesic controlled most of the first half, Sanford took control on goals by Marissa Nance and Helmreich in the second half. Logan Champlain tied it with 49 seconds remaining in regulation.

WINDHAM 3, BONNY EAGLE 0: Erin Malloy had a goal and an assist as Windham won an opener at home.

Paige Laferriere and Olivia Verrill each added a goal, and Grace Sawyer made 10 saves for the Eagles.

Melissa Jones had seven saves for Bonny Eagle.

CONY 10, BRUNSWICK 0: Arika Brochu scored three goals to lead the Rams (2-0) past Brunswick (0-2) at Augusta.

Cari Hopkins, Molly Silsby and Delaney Keithley added two goals each, and Lindsay Watts also scored.

Anna Webster made 15 saves for Brunswick.

GARDINER 3, NOKOMIS 0: Sarah Morgan, Nickyia Lovely and Lilly Chepke scored as the Tigers won an opener at Gardiner.

Gardiner dominated throughout, finishing with a 10-1 advantage in shots and 14-4 advantage in penalty corners.
