NEW YORK — Alec Baldwin says he is passionate about green energy and is hoping next week’s U.N. climate summit convinces Americans that the U.S. has fallen behind other countries in promoting wind and solar power.

The actor spoke at a reception Thursday to celebrate the launch of “Addressing Climate Change,” a book featuring the work of award-winning English photographer Henry Dallal. Its contributors include U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

“For me energy independence comes from renewables,” Baldwin said.
