High-end Cadillac expected to roll out next year, GM says

General Motors will begin building a new top-end Cadillac sedan late next year at its Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant in Michigan.

The automaker said Friday that the rear-wheel-drive car will make its debut in the first half of 2015, and that it will reveal the name of the new model soon.

The new Cadillac is part of a $384 million investment GM announced last spring in the assembly plant, which straddles the border of Detroit and the enclave of Hamtramck.

Menu at Burger King Japan features some dark twists

In a variation on last year’s edition, the Kuro Ninja, Burger King Japan has added two more black-on-black burgers to its menu. The fast-food chain added black cheese and darkened the other ingredients in the special burger duo that debuted Friday.

The Kuro Pearl is simple with a black pepper beef patty covered with Chaliapin (onion and soy) sauce infused with squid ink. Its black cheese and buns are colored with bamboo charcoal. The Kuro Diamond is the same burger, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and mayonnaise. Kuro means “black” in Japanese.

The burgers are available in Japan until November. The Kuro Pearl retails for $4.39 in American dollars and the Kuro Diamond for $6.31. It’s not clear why black burgers are a hit in Japan, but quirky food and drink products such as square watermelons, green tea candy bars and ice cucumber Pepsi are commonly sold.
