It was refreshing to read the continued work that Paul Kendrick of Freeport has been and is undertaking to protect our youth from sexually deviant predators and pedophiles, both in the Catholic Church and in shelters and orphanages (“Before defamation trial of sex abuse activist, a timely twist,” Sept. 15).

He is truly an angel. Such tenacity in the mission of seeking out and punishing those who would harm our children.

The response of the church and our local diocese has been less than admirable, including continued resistance, stonewalling and a criminal trespass order against Mr. Kendrick!

Shame on the Diocese of Portland for its poor handling of such a sensitive matter involving the protection of our children from sexual abuse.

Thank God for Pope Francis and his zero tolerance for such abuse coupled, finally, with the punishment of those engaging in such deplorable practices.

Are the bishop and Diocese of Portland listening? Right your wrongs and treat Paul Kendrick with respect as the decent, intelligent man he is. The enemy is within, and it’s not Paul Kendrick.
