National Merit Scholarship semifinalists have been announced for 2015. Nationally, about 16,000 high school seniors (about 1 percent) receive the designation based on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test with the highest scoring students from each state qualifying. Rochester, N.Y., Institute of Technology: Courtney Camire of Biddeford participated in “Explore Your Future,” a six-day career camp held this summer at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf on the RIT campus. Students learned about careers in computer art design, business, health care, laboratory science, computing and engineering. Camire is a senior at Portland High School / Governor Baxter Center Education for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
