A Kennebunkport nurse has been charged with stealing painkiller injections from her job at York Hospital and injecting herself at work.
York police charged Nicolle Dauphinee, 45, and she was summoned to appear in court Oct. 30 to face a felony charge of stealing drugs, police said.
The hospital alerted police on Sept. 15 that it suspected an employee was stealing drugs, and York detectives interviewed Dauphinee on Friday.
She admitted she diverted Dilaudid (hydromorphone) injections, a potent opiate painkiller that can be addictive when abused, from the hospital and injected the drugs into herself while at work, police said.
The nurse stole the drugs from June until September, when she was fired, police said.
