A Waterboro woman was arrested Tuesday on charges of trafficking in methamphetamine stemming from an investigation by the York County Sheriff’s Office during the summer.

Sheriff’s deputies tried to serve an eviction notice on Caitlin Bigelow, 26, at her rented home at 481 Stone Road in Newfield on June 2.

Bigelow was not at home at the time, but deputies saw items outside that are commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, including gas generators made from soda bottles with rubber tubing attached to the bottle openings, and numerous empty packs of pseudoephedrine and cold packs. Deputies then notified the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, whose agents set up a safety perimeter.

MDEA Cmdr. Scott Pelletier said the agency’s lab team searched the home on June 3 and, with the assistance of Newfield Fire Department, a state chemist and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, dismantled about 10 “one pot” meth labs in the home.

This summer, agents from MDEA’s York District Task Force continued the investigation and received an arrest warrant for Bigelow.

She was arrested without incident on Tuesday and taken to the York County Jail on $5,000 bail.
