YORK — Alex Nickerson scored off a corner kick to lift York to a 1-1 tie with Greely in a Western Maine Conference schoolboy soccer game Thursday night.

Paul Bischoff had an unassisted goal for the Rangers (7-1-1). Nickerson’s goal for the Wildcats (2-5-2) was assisted by Jordan Gomes.

Connor Smith made six saves for York; John Wright had five for Greely.

SOUTH PORTLAND 1, PORTLAND 0: Khalid Suja’s first-half direct kick lifted the Red Riots (5-4) over the Bulldogs (4-4-1) at Porland.

Henry Curran made 12 saves for the shutout. Bobby Brittingham stopped five shots for the Bulldogs.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 3, POLAND 1: Jesse Ricardi scored his second goal of the game with 3:23 remaining to break a 1-1 tie and push the Patriots (4-2-2) past the Knights (3-5-1) at Poland.

Bryce Hayman added a goal with 16 seconds left.

Ricardi started the scoring midway through the first half. Poland evened it on Kyle Radziszewski’s penalty kick with 26:14 remaining.

WESTBROOK 1, NOBLE 0: Jonathan Lapika scored a breakaway goal from Ahmed Habi with 3:15 left in the first overtime to lift the Blue Blazes (5-3-2) over the Knights (1-7) at Westbrook.

D.J. Hendrickson made three saves to record the shutout.

THORNTON ACADEMY 4, SANFORD 0: The Trojans (7-1-2) took a 4-0 halftime lead behind three goals from Simon Trcka and cruised past the Spartans (2-7-1) at Saco.

Dalton Moore opened the scoring on a penalty kick.

CAPE ELIZABETH 2, KENNEBUNK 1: Griffin Thoreck opened the scoring 16 minutes into the game and assisted Cole Caswell four minutes later to lift the Capers (5-2-1) over the Rams (5-4) at Kennebunk.

Kennebunk cut the deficit to 2-1 with 24:18 left in the half when Andrew Radomski scored from Spencer Thibodeau.

Tyler Dickinson made nine saves for the Rams. Andrew Kelly stopped six shots for Cape.

CHEVERUS 6, MASSABESIC 0: Brady Levesque scored just 43 seconds in, then added two second-half goals as the Stags (5-3) rolled against the Mustangs (0-9) at Waterboro.

Matt Lapoint, Andrei Vile and Ben Peterson also scored.

GARDINER 5, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 1: The Tigers (2-7) trailed for nearly the entire first half, then responded with four second-half goals to down Spruce Mountain (0-9) at Gardiner.

Zach Whitney scored for Spruce Mountain after 1:13 and the Phoenix led until Kaleb Marston finished off a Kevin Frankhauser assist with 34 seconds remaining in the half.

In the second half, Alex LaPointe scored three goals. Josh Caldwell assisted on two of them and also scored on a penalty kick.

MT. BLUE 1, MESSALONSKEE 0: Drew Parsons’ goal after 16:04 proved to be the difference as the Cougars (3-5-1)downed the Eagles (3-5) at Oakland.

Colton Lawrence finished with seven saves for Mt. Blue. Dylan Jones stopped six shots for Messalonskee.

FOOTBALL

YORK 43, MT. ARARAT 8: Cullen McCarty scored four touchdowns, including a 93-yard run to extend the lead to 21-0 in the first quarter, as the Wildcats (5-0) took a 35-0 halftime lead and cruised past the Eagles (1-4) at Topsham.

McCarty finished with 209 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 11 carries, all in the first half. York also got a first-quarter touchdown on a 28-yard pass from Cole Merritt to Mark MacGlashing.

Colton Santoro closed the scoring for the Wildcats with a 90-yard touchdown run that extended the lead to 43-0.

Mt. Ararat’s touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Robert Hetherman.
