A 70-year-old Woolwich woman was in critical condition with a head injury at Maine Medical Center in Portland on Thursday after being hit by a cargo van’s mirror while using a crosswalk on Maine Street in Brunswick a day earlier.
The driver of the 2004 GMC cargo van, Adam Lindstrom, 31, of Gardiner, was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.
Lindstrom, who was driving north on Maine Street at 1 p.m. Wednesday, told police he was looking away and didn’t see Shirley Roth crossing just north of the intersection with Bath Road, police said.
His mirror hit Roth and knocked her to the pavement. She was treated for a skull fracture and was taken by ambulance to Maine Medical Center.
