The man-advantage was no edge for Portland on Friday night as the Pirates converted just one of nine power plays while allowing a shorthanded goal during a 3-2 loss to the host Binghamton Senators.

Buddy Robinson put the Senators ahead with a shorthanded goal in the first period and Shane Prince followed a few minutes later during a delayed penalty against Portland.

Portland’s Jordan Szwarz scored an unassisted shorthanded goal in the second period but Binghamton’s Aaron Johnson answered.

Portland rookie Henrik Samuelsson scored his first goal in the third period.

COLLEGES

FIELD HOCKEY: Annabelle Hamilton scored in the 45th minute on a penalty stroke to lift Maine past host UMass-Lowell 2-1.
