A Brunswick woman will face charges stemming from a shooting incident Saturday at her home at 1133 Mere Point Road, police said.

Brunswick police said Tammie Keslake, 51, was taken into custody after a nearly eight-hour standoff with police.

Police said they received a report of gunfire from inside Keslake’s home about 5 p.m. Officers had been to the home twice earlier in the day to investigate a report of gunfire and to respond to an emergency call made by Keslake.

Police shut down Mere Point Road and set up a perimeter to protect nearby residents as they tried to get Keslake to cooperate or surrender.

Negotiators from Brunswick police and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office communicated with Keslake by a phone delivered to her by a police tactical team. At 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police fired tear gas into the home. Keslake came out and was taken into custody.

She was to receive a medical evaluation before being transported to Cumberland County Jail in Portland, police said. Police removed a Remington 20-gauge shotgun and ammunition from Keslake’s home.

Police said charges are pending.
