I support the Falmouth Memorial Library expansion. I do because libraries matter.

Former first lady and librarian Laura Bush famously said, “I have found the most valuable thing in my wallet is my library card.” Mrs. Bush was making a strong and informed statement about the powerful, lifelong benefits that accrue to all who frequent libraries. Because libraries matter.

We like to refer to our towns and cities as “communities,” because we are at our best when we share our daily lives with others – at our schools, on our playing fields, at our jobs and, importantly, at our libraries. Because libraries matter.

And, as the tide of technology flows steadily forward, libraries are lifted by it, and not swept away as some fear. In fact, libraries today are more useful and usable than ever.

Please vote in favor of the Falmouth Memorial Library expansion Nov. 4. Because libraries matter.
