Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins likes to brag about never missing a roll call vote. But here are some of the votes she should have missed in recent years instead of voting “no” on them:

Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to Overturn Citizens United (corporate money in politics).

 Raising the federal minimum wage.

Paycheck Fairness Act (equal pay for equal work).

 Emergency Unemployment Compensation Extension Act.

National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014.

 Default Prevention Act of 2013.

Amendment 1778: Limits Interest Rates for Certain Federal Student Loans.

 Student Loan Affordability Act.

Amendment 711: Prohibits the Sale of Assault Weapons.

Amendment 714: Limits Firearms Magazine Capacity (ban on high-capacity magazines).

 Middle Class Tax Cut Act.

On Nov. 4, remember that showing up is not the same as voting in your constituents’ best interests. Democrat Shenna Bellows offers a better, compassionate choice. Time for a change.
