Democratic U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud’s campaign frequently claims that he is a reasonable, bipartisan moderate.

Of course, every voter should be wary of what a campaign claims. Fortunately, there is a way to check this claim. Both the liberal Americans for Democratic Action and the conservative American Conservative Union have rated Rep. Michaud’s congressional voting record.

Is Michaud a moderate? Not even close. Over the last three years, Michaud voted with the liberals 90 percent of the time, according to the ADA, and voted with the conservatives only 4 percent of the time, according to the ACU.

Liberals and conservatives don’t agree on much these days, but they do agree on one thing: Mike Michaud is no moderate. Despite appearances, his record is extremely liberal. If you want a Bill Nemitz partisan liberal as governor, Michaud is your candidate. If you want a moderate, you’d better look elsewhere.
