In the Oct. 8 edition of “The Week,” there was a very sad story of a girl dying of a malignant brain tumor who decided to kill herself. Luckily she lived in Oregon where it is legal to do so if two physicians agree.

A bottle of pills for this purpose cost her $300, known to be the cheapest treatment for lethal ingestion.

Someone commented, “All of us can imagine horrible circumstances in which we would wish the same choice.”

Only in Oregon do people have this choice. We could go to Holland where lethal suicide is legal. Why not Maine?
