The Coast Guard said it has rescued one person but is still looking for two others after a fishing boat sank near Matinicus Island Saturday.

Officials said they received an emergency position indication radio beacon, or EPIRB, from the 45-foot No Limits, which is homeported in Cushing, on Saturday.

Coast Guard officials said they used a rescue boat, helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod and a boat from the Maine Marine Patrol to search for the boat and its crew. The helicopter’s crew spotted a flare fired from a survivor in a life raft and lifted him aboard.

The Coast Guard said the man was taken to Maine Medical Center but they did not release his name or condition.

The search for two others believed to be aboard was continuing and the Coast Guard said it would add more vessels to the search Saturday night.
