Two New York men were arrested Friday in Lewiston for allegedly selling crack cocaine.
The two were identified as Joshua Bonnett, 23, and Marquis Aiken, 22, both of Brooklyn, New York. Each was charged with one count of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.
According to the Maine Department of Public Safety, agents with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency have been investigating drug trafficking at three Lewiston motels for about a month. On Friday, the agents searched a room at the Super 8 Motel and said they found scales, drug packaging materials, marijuana, 290 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of about $30,000, and $1,200 in suspected drug proceeds.
Bonnett and Aiken were arrested in the room. They were taken to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn and were being held Friday on bail of $25,000 each.
They are scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
