Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a Biddeford home early Friday morning.
The fire was reported at in the area 602 Alfred Street, near the Arundel town line, at 4:30 a.m. Alfred Street, also known as Route 111, was shut down while crews battled the blaze, but was reopened to traffic by 8 a.m.
Biddeford Fire Chief Joseph Warren told WSCH6 that no one was home at the time and there were no injuries. He said the fire was difficult to fight because the closest hydrant was 2,000 feet from the fire, so water trucks had to be used.
One investigator from the State Fire Marshals Office is one scene to help determine the cause of the fire.
