A Hodgdon man was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine after drug agents searched a home Saturday morning in the Aroostook County town.

It was the second time this year that the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency had shut down an illegal methamphetamine manufacturing operation at the 699 Walker Road residence, MDEA Cmdr. Peter Arno said.

James Boyce, 31, was arrested following a search at the home Saturday morning. He is being held at the Aroostook County Jail pending bail, Arno said in a news release.

The search took place after an Aroostook County sheriff’s deputy and a Maine State Police trooper arrived at the home for an unrelated investigation and noticed material in the house that appeared to be related to a meth lab.

Police shut down another lab at the house on March 24 and arrested Marcus Toner, 24, of Hodgdon on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine. Police said it is unclear whether the two incidents are related.
