The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maine says the district collected more than $1.5 million through criminal and civil actions in the 2014 fiscal year.

U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II says the district collected $847,901.95 in criminal actions and $678,078.23 in civil actions. The collections were among $24.7 billion collected by the federal Department of Justice for civil and criminal actions for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30.

The Maine district also collected $484,379 in asset forfeitures in fiscal 2014. The office says those assets are used to augment funds for crime victims, as well as for law enforcement purposes.
