A Shapleigh man was arrested Friday after he allegedly threatened to harm a neighbor.

Andrew Mayer, 46, of 661 Owls Nest Road was charged with terrorizing, said William L. King Jr., chief deputy of the York County Sheriff’s Office.

King said deputies were called to the neighborhood about 10:45 a.m. Friday and upon arriving learned that Mayer was known to keep weapons in his house. They tried unsuccessfully to contact Mayer by telephone but decided to wait for him to emerge after determining there was someone else in the home, King said.

Mayer came out of the house to walk his dog at about 3:30 p.m., when he was arrested by the deputies. Several weapons were taken from the house.

Mayer was taken to the York County Jail in Alfred. He was released on $200 bail and on the condition he have no contact with his neighbor.

He is scheduled to appear in Springvale District Court on Jan. 27.
