Nicholas DePatsy, Medomak Valley basketball: DePatsy scored a school-record 48 points as the Panthers beat Belfast 87-27 in an Eastern Class B opener. DePatsy, a 6-foot-3 junior, broke the mark set by Alan Baron, who scored 45 points in a 1975 game.

Honorable mention

Kyle Severance, Cheverus hockey: The Stags were outshot 31-18 by Lewiston, but Severance made 29 saves in a 3-2 in OT win.

Sean Jany, Westbrook basketball: Jany scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Blue Blazes to an opening win over Sanford, 45-41. Jany had eight points in the fourth quarter.

Ryan Gullickson, Fryeburg Academy basketball: He scored the tying basket in regulation and five free throws in overtime to lead the Raiders to a 51-47 win over Lake Region. Gullickson led all scorers with 24 points.

Grace Kariotis, Gray-New Gloucester basketball: She scored 19 points in the Patriots’ 59-47 road win over Greely. With her team trailing 16-11, she hit three consecutive 3-pointers to lift Gray-New Gloucester into a 30-22 halftime lead.

Honorable mention

Cam Carrier, Falmouth hockey: After recording two goals and an assist in a 3-2 win over Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete, Carrier scored two goals in the first period in a 5-1 win over Yarmouth/Freeport.

Julia Champagne, Brunswick basketball: Champagne scored 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had six assists and four steals as the Dragons beat Cony, 46-12.

 

Ashley Howe, Thornton Academy basketball: Howe scored 13 points in the second half to rally the Trojans past McAuley, 37-34. Her three-point play with just over a minute left gave Thornton a five-point lead.
