CONCORD, N.H. – Police say a minimum security inmate who walked away from a transitional work center in Concord has been arrested after crashing a stolen car in Rochester.

The Department of Corrections says 40-year-old Jason William Chapman didn’t show up for a 10:45 p.m. head count on Sunday and was placed on walkaway status. Rochester Police told WOKQ-FM that Chapman was arrested early Monday morning after fleeing from the scene of a crash and briefly struggling with officers in the woods.

Chapman was serving a 1 1/2- to 5-year sentence for theft. He is now charged with drunken driving, simple assault, resisting arrest and several other charges. It was unclear Monday whether he has a lawyer.
