SCARBOROUGH — Milani Hicks scored 26 points Tuesday and had an assist on the basket that put Scarborough ahead for good in overtime in a 74-70 victory against Gorham in an SMAA boy’ basketball game.

Hicks also had seven rebounds, six assists and two steals. He assisted Jacob Gardner on a layup that put the Red Storm (5-1) ahead for good.

Sam Freeman finished with 19 points and six assists, and Nathaniel Wessel had 12 points for Scarborough.

Billy Ruby had 18 points for the Rams (4-2), who trailed 53-43 after three quarters, then outscored the Red Storm 22-12 in the fourth.

Sam Kilborn added 17 points and Nick Thibeault had 12 for Gorham.

BRUNSWICK 48, BREWER 45: The Dragons (4-3) took a 31-22 halftime lead, then withstood a third-quarter comeback to hold off the Witches (3-4) at Brunswick.

The Witches outscored the Dragons 16-9 in the third to pull within 40-38 heading into the final quarter.

Pearson Cost scored 13 points and Taran Payne added 10 for Brunswick.

Logan Rogerson scored 16 points and Matt Pushard 11 for Brewer.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 56, PINE TREE ACADEMY 35: The Panthers (3-3) allowed the first nine points of the game, then went on a 34-7 run and defeated Pine Tree (1-5) at Yarmouth.

D.J. Nichols scored 12 of his game-high 16 points in the second quarter, and Haven Cutko finished with 11 points, six assists and five steals for the Panthers.

J.P. Tshamala had 13 points for the Breakers.

DEERING 66, WESTBROOK 52: Benedict Williams scored 34 points, 24 in the second half as the Rams (5-1) pulled away from the Blue Blazes (4-3) at Westbrook.

Jean Claude Nzeza chipped in 10 points for Deering, which outscored the Blue Blazes 39-21 after trailing 31-27 at halftime.

Blake Fillmore had 18 points, Derrick Breunig finished with 16 points and 18 rebounds, and Sean Jany closed with 10 points for Westbrook.

LAKE REGION 64, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 59: Lake Region (3-2) opened a 43-21 halftime lead, then held off the Patriots (3-2) at Naples.

Tyler St. Pierre scored 12 of his 26 points in the third quarter as Gray-New Gloucester pulled within 54-46.

Jack Lesure finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots for Lake Region.

PORTLAND 59, THORNTON ACADEMY 51: Liam Densmore scored 23 points and the Bulldogs (6-0) used a second-quarter push to pull ahead of the Golden Trojans (1-4) at Saco.

The Bulldogs outscored Thornton 20-7 in the second quarter for a 36-24 lead.

Densmore had five 3-pointers, four in the first quarter. Stephen Alex added 16 points for Portland.

Kevin Barrett paced the Trojans with 19 points. Corey Hart added 11.

HOCKEY

MASSABESIC/BONNY EAGLE/OLD ORCHARD BEACH 5, LAKE REGION/FRYEBURG ACADEMY/OXFORD HILLS 3: Kyle Whitman had two goals and two assists to lead Massabesic/Bonny Eagle/Old Orchard Beach (2-3) over Lake Region/Fryeburg Academy/Oxford Hills (1-3) at Gorham.

Justin Miles and Cam Roy each had a goal and an assist for Massabesic. Tanner McClure also scored.

Huxley Lovering, Davis Turner and Kaleb Currier scored for Lake Region.

FALMOUTH 3, CAPE ELIZABETH 2: Chris Camelio had a goal and an assist as the Yachtsmen (5-0) edged the Capers (3-3) at Portland.

The score was 1-1 after the first period: Brandon Peters gave Falmouth the lead at 3:32 before Jack Drinan countered seven minutes later.

Noah Nagem of Falmouth had the only goal of the second period.

Camelio scored at 2:20 of the third from Hunter Low and Louis Mainella before Curtis made it 3-2 at 7:54.

SCARBOROUGH 4, PORTLAND/DEERING 0: The Red Storm (3-2) scored two unassisted short-handed goals in the second period and shut out the Bulldogs (2-4) at Portland.

Braeden Kane had a hat trick and Sean McGovern also scored. Sean McDonald, Cam Nigro and Sam Nygren had assists.

Alex Girsch made 38 saves for Portland/Deering. Ben Bragg blocked 15 shots for the shutout.

CHEVERUS 5, YARMOUTH 2: Cheverus (5-0-1) scored four goals in the third period to put away the Clippers (0-5) at Yarmouth.

James Hannigan had a goal and two assists, and Jesse Cyr-Brophy, Alex Libby, Chris Vallee and Cam Dube also scored for the Stags.

BRUNSWICK 9, MT. ARARAT/LISBON 3: Jacob McGowan had five goals and two assists as the Dragons (4-1) cruised past the Eagles (1-3) at Brunswick.

T.J. Sullivan added three goals and three assists, and Jared Parent had a goal and five assists for Brunswick.

Brian Sargent had a pair of goals for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon.
