An Acton man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old while the boy was sleeping, the York County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies arrested Keith Poole, 22, saying that he entered the boy’s residence about 4 a.m. Saturday and touched him sexually, causing the boy to wake up.

According to deputies, Poole then fled the residence after a brief exchange with the occupants.

After interviewing Poole, Sgt. Kyle Kassa arrested and charged him with unlawful sexual contact and burglary. Both are Class B felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Poole was being held Saturday at the York County Jail in Alfred on $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on Feb. 2.
