When you’re roasting root vegetables this winter, try adding a little Basil Flower Vinegar for extra flavor.

You can also add it to your next marinade, or whip up a salad dressing with this local product, which is made with red wine vinegar and basil leaves. If that flavor doesn’t appeal, The Maine Accent also makes vinegars in flavors such as hot pepper garlic, chive blossom, tarragon and thyme.

The Maine Accent is a small family business that sells what it grows in its gardens just outside Hallowell. The product line (salt- and preservative-free) also includes an herb blend, a line of mustards, and “floral waters” mixed by hand that can be used as a body splash or aftershave.
