Col. (Promotable) Michael J. Bouchard has been named assistant adjutant general for the Maine Army National Guard effective Jan. 8.

Bouchard is a native of Westbrook and graduated from Norwich University with a bachelor of science in civil engineering. He also received a master’s degree in public administration from Alabama’s Troy State University and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He also completed several courses through the military. He was commissioned through ROTC as an active duty Army engineer officer in May 1985 and joined the Maine Army National Guard in 1989. Bouchard’s most recent assignments include the National Guard Bureau’s director of installations, logistics and environment and deputy director of strategic plans and policy.

A ceremony will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Hall of Flags in the Capitol in Augusta. The public is welcome.

Army Pvt. Cynthia R. Reed graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. Reed is the daughter of Matthew Reed of Gorham and is a 2014 graduate of Gorham High School.
