BALTIMORE — Liz Wood recorded her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds as the University of Maine women’s basketball team earned its sixth straight win, beating the University of Maryland-Baltimore County 56-42 on Sunday.

The double-double was the 13th of Wood’s career. She also had three assists. Sigi Koizar added 14 points for the Black Bears, who improved to 14-6 overall, 6-1 in the conference. Maine held its opponent under 50 points for the third straight game and went 7 for 19 from 3-point range.

Capree Garner scored 13 points for UMBC (6-13, 1-5).

University of New England 54, Western New England 50: Meghan Gribbin hit a jump shot with 46 seconds remaining and the Nor’easters (13-3, 10-0 Commonwealth Coast) earned their 40th straight conference regular-season home victory, beating the Golden Bears (10-6, 5-5).

Sadie DiPierro scored 14 points to lead UNE. Kelly Coleman and Alanna Vose each scored 12 points.

UMASS-LOWELL 72, VERMONT 63: Senior Niki Taylor, a York High graduate, reached 1,000 points for her career with a basket at 14:02 of the first half of the Catamounts loss in Lowell, Massachusetts. Taylor finished with five points.

(2) CONNECTICUT 96, CINCINNATI 31: Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis scored 12 of her 19 points in the first half, missing only one shot all game, and the Huskies rolled to their 17th straight victory, beating the host Bearcats (5-14, 2-6 AAC).

(4) LOUISVILLE 68, MIAMI 55: Myisha Hines-Allen scored a career-high 23 points to help the Cardinals (18-2, 6-1 ACC) beat the Hurricanes (15-4, 5-1) in Louisville, Kentucky.

(5) TENNESSEE 59, (22) GEORGIA 51: Jordan Reynolds scored a career-high 15 points and the Lady Vols (17-3, 7-0 SEC) came from behind in the second half for a victory over the visiting Bulldogs (17-4, 5-3).

(7) MARYLAND 84, INDIANA 74: Lexie Brown scored 21 points, and Brionna Jones added 10 points and 14 rebounds to help the Terrapins (17-2, 8-0 Big Ten) beat the Hoosiers (12-7, 2-6) in Bloomington, Indiana.

IOWA STATE 58, (8) TEXAS 57: Nikki Moody scored 14 points, including two free throws with 17.5 seconds left, to help the Cyclones (15-4, 5-2 Big 12) upset the Longhorns (14-4, 3-4) in Austin Texas.

(9) OREGON STATE 67, (13) ARIZONA STATE 54: Jamie Weisner scored 21 points to help the Beavers (18-1, 8-0 Pac-12) beat the Sun Devils (18-2, 7-1), at Tempe, Arizona, and take over sole possession of first place in the Pac-12.

(15) DUKE 74, (12) NORTH CAROLINA 67: Elizabeth Williams scored a career-high 33 points to help the Blue Devils (14-6, 5-2 ACC) beat the Tar Heels (17-4, 4-3) in overtime at Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Hockey

MAINE 4, NORTHEASTERN 2: Jennifer More scored two goals and the Black Bears (9-12-3, 8-5-1 Hockey East) took a 3-0 lead in the second period on their way to a win over the Huskies (7-13-4, 6-8-1) in Orono.

Kelsey MacSorely and Stacey Brooks also scored for Maine. Denisa Krizova and Kendall Coyne scored for Northeastern.

Meghann Treacy made 40 saves for Maine. Chloe Desjardins had 21 saves for Northeastern.
